B.Tech./ B.E. (Power)
NPTI’s
attempts to weave formal education with industry oriented inputs materialized
with the Launching of the first ever
4-year degree course in B.Tech. (Power) at its Northern Region Institute,
Badarpur, New Delhi. The same
was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Union Minister of Power, Shri Suresh P.
Prabhu on 5th Sept. 2001 in the
august presence of Hon’ble Union Minster of State for Power,
Smt. Jayawanti Mehta. This course is duly approved by the AICTE and
affiliated to Guru Govind Singh Indra Prastha University, Delhi.
NPTI has
also launched the B.E.(Power) course at its Western Region Institute, Nagpur on 11th September 2001.
B.Tech (Power) at its Eastern
Region Institute, Durgapur was launched on 12th August 2002.This
course is approved by AICTE and affiliated to West Bengal University
of Technology.
About the program
This 4 years Degree course, B.Tech
/ B.E. Power Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical) being offered by NPTI, is
the first of its kind in India. The program
is directed at the young aspirants who are looking for a bright career in the
Power Industry, the backbone of all
industrial activity. The program coverage includes the regular inputs provided
generally in B.Tech. programs with a
focus on Indian Electricity Act 1956,
preparing skilled Engineering Executives for the Power Sector. The curriculum
is also designed in such a way that by selecting Mechanical / Electrical
Electives the final awarded Degree can be B.Tech Power Engineering ( Mechanical
/ Electrical).

techno-commercial lines.
